Position Summary

Metal Works Mfg. Co. has an immediate opening for a Executive Business Development, Commercial Segment.  This position reports to the VP of Business Development & Program Management and is responsible for providing the necessary Sales support functions, including business development, customer focus, sales quoting, coordination and reporting. This position is a critical component to our commercial sales team and the successful candidate must be driven, focused and highly motivated.  This individual must be a self-starter.


General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops client base and sells directly to large, end user industrial clients.
  • Meet with ship-to and bill-to accounts on a regular basis (both personal and phone visits), meeting with upper management to discuss sales trends, sales volume by product, and quality and production issues.
  • Uses company's sales and engineering assets as required in business development.
  • Explores, develops and maintains strong working relationships with clients.
  • Oversees pricing and proposal development.
  • Works to ensure that both short and long term sales goals are achieved.
  • Provides accurate and meaningful marketing information to support forecasting, strategic planning, pipeline development and product planning, while representing a clientele point-of-view.
  • Provides a high level of sales professionalism while achieving a superior degree of customer satisfaction.
  • Plans and manages travel schedules for trade shows and offsite meetings at client's place of business.


Required Qualifications

  • Commercial Sales experience in relevant industry segment is essential
  • Significant demonstrated success and direct selling experience into one or more of the following markets: railroads; construction; mining; off-road; agricultural equipment; and other similar segments.
  • Strong demonstrated technical sales background and experience with heavy duty, manufacturing systems and equipment.
  • Strong understanding of business markets, clientele and current environments.
  • Must demonstrate understanding of project management: planning, scheduling, and budgeting
  • Able to develop, manage and perform to a business plan short and long term
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Travel is required; clients are located primarily in North America


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with marketing and business development tools
  • Federal contract management experience is desired
  • Prior supervisory experience
